One Crew, Whole House
Home Remodeling Baton Rouge Homeowners Can Plan Around
You should know what's being done, what it costs, and when it will be finished — before the first wall comes down.
Most homes we remodel in Baton Rouge are brick ranches from the 1960s through the 1980s — think Broadmoor, Sherwood Forest, and Shenandoah. They are solid houses with closed-off kitchens, low lighting, and worn floors. We open them up, replace what's tired, and make the rooms work for how your family lives now.
Bobby Smith has spent 19 years in construction, and he stays on your job from the first walk-through to the last. You get one written scope, one price, and a phone call when something changes. Planning to start with one room? See our kitchen remodel cost guide for what moves the price.

Time for a Change?
Signs Your Baton Rouge Home Is Ready for a Remodel
If a few of these sound like your house, a remodel usually costs less than moving.
-
Closed-Off Kitchen and Den
Walls that split up older ranch homes can often come out, with a beam added where needed.
-
Worn or Mismatched Floors
Three kinds of flooring in one hallway is common. One floor through the house fixes it.
-
Not Enough Bedrooms or Storage
Garages, carports, and oversized dens can be turned into real living space.
-
Old Damage Never Fully Fixed
Soft drywall, stained ceilings, or wavy floors left from past leaks get repaired the right way.
-
Hard to Get Around
Wider doors, step-free showers, and ramps make a home easier for aging family members.

Local Building Know-How
What Makes Remodeling in Baton Rouge Different
Houses here deal with heat, water, and age in ways that change how the work should be done.
Humidity and Moisture
We use moisture-resistant board and proper venting so new walls don't mold in a Louisiana summer.
Slab-on-Grade Ranch Homes
Moving plumbing means cutting concrete. We plan layouts that limit slab work and cost.
Flood Zone Rules
In mapped flood zones, large remodels can trigger elevation rules. We check before you commit.
City-Parish Permits
We file with the East Baton Rouge permit office and meet inspectors so you don't have to.
Termite Damage Checks
Formosan termites are common here. Open walls get a close look before we close them.
Older Homes Near Mid City
Pier-and-beam houses in the Garden District and Mid City need leveling checks before new floors.

Remodeling Questions
Home Remodeling FAQs
How long does a whole-home remodel take in Baton Rouge?
It depends on how many rooms and whether walls move. A few rooms of flooring, paint, and trim can wrap up in weeks. A full gut with layout changes takes several months. You get a written schedule before work starts, and we update it as the job moves.
Can we live in the house during the remodel?
Often, yes. We work in stages so you keep a working bathroom and a place to cook when we can. For a full gut, or when the only bathroom is torn out, most families stay somewhere else for that stretch. We plan this with you up front.
Do I need a permit to remodel my Baton Rouge home?
Paint, flooring, and cabinet swaps usually don't need one. Moving walls, adding square footage, or changing electrical, plumbing, or gas lines does. We handle the permit with the East Baton Rouge City-Parish permit office and schedule the inspections for you.
What if you open a wall and find a problem?
It happens, mostly in older homes. We stop, show you what we found, and give you a written price for the fix before going further. Nothing gets added to your bill without your okay. Old water damage and termite damage are the usual finds here.
Will you help me pick finishes if I'm not sure what I want?
Yes. A lot of our customers start out unsure. We walk through flooring, paint, cabinet, and fixture options with you and narrow them down to what fits your budget. You make the final call, and we order once you approve.
