Metairie Home Construction

A Contractor for Metairie's Ranch Homes and Rebuilds

Most Metairie houses went up between the 1950s and 1970s. Many are due for more than paint.

Metairie filled in after World War II. Street after street off Veterans Boulevard has brick ranch and split-level homes on concrete slabs, with low ceilings, closed-off kitchens, and small bathrooms. The bones are usually good. Owners here want the kitchen opened to the den, the baths redone, the old windows replaced, and the whole house brought up to date at once.

Some lots get a fresh start instead. In Old Metairie and other close-in neighborhoods, people tear down a worn-out house and build new. Storms drive work too — Katrina flooded many homes here in 2005, and Hurricane Ida tore up roofs and siding in 2021. Our office is in Baton Rouge, so we schedule Metairie jobs as planned projects.

"I was in need of someone to help bring my investment property back to life. I called around and couldn’t really find anyone to work with my budget because a lot of my money went into the properties. I was just searching and searching and I came across this company. Bobby was very understanding, great ideas, understood my problem, and we found a solution together that would make both of us happy and I am proud to say that the project is finished and will soon be working on my next investment properties and will definitely be giving Bobby a call"

Metairie FAQs

What Metairie Homeowners Want to Know

Who issues building permits in Metairie since it isn't a city?

Jefferson Parish does. Metairie is unincorporated, so there is no city hall to visit. Permits and inspections run through the parish's inspection and code enforcement office. We put together the application, file it, and meet the inspectors, so you don't have to keep track of any of it.

Can you open up the kitchen in my 1960s Metairie ranch house?

Usually, yes. Many of these homes have a wall between the kitchen and den that holds up the ceiling joists. We check what the wall carries, add a properly sized beam if needed, and move any wiring or plumbing inside it. Then we patch floors and ceilings to match.

Is it better to tear down and rebuild or remodel my Metairie home?

It depends on the slab, the flood zone, and how much you want to change. If the slab has settled badly or the house sits below the required flood height, building new can make more sense. We look at both options with you and price them side by side.

My Metairie slab has settled and the floors slope. Can you still remodel?

Often, yes. Soft soil in Jefferson Parish makes some settling common. We check how far the slab has moved and whether it looks like it is still moving. Minor slopes can be leveled under new flooring. Bigger problems may need a foundation specialist first, and we'll tell you that plainly.
