Showers, Tubs, and Tile

Bathroom Remodeling That Holds Up to Baton Rouge Humidity

What's behind the tile matters more than the tile. We get the waterproofing right first, then make it look good.

A bathroom takes more water than any other room in the house, and in Baton Rouge the air is already wet. That's why bathrooms here wear out first — loose tile, dark grout, a fan that never clears the mirror. We tear out what's failing, fix what's behind it, and build a bathroom that dries out like it should.

Bobby Smith brings 19 years of construction experience to every bath we build, from a hall bath refresh to a full primary suite. Tile, plumbing, vanities, and glass are handled under one written price. If the bathroom is one piece of a bigger project, our home remodeling service covers the rest of the house.

Bathroom Trouble Spots

Bathroom Problems Baton Rouge Homeowners Call Us About

Most of these start small and get worse behind the wall, where you can't see them.

  1. Loose or Cracked Shower Tile

Tile that moves or sounds hollow usually means water has gotten into the wall behind it.

  2. Bathtub Nobody Uses Anymore

We take out the tub and build a walk-in shower in the same space.

  3. Bathroom Mold That Keeps Coming Back

A weak exhaust fan leaves the room damp. A properly ducted fan clears the steam.

  4. Soft Floor Around the Toilet

A spongy floor means a slow leak has rotted the wood. We replace it before new tile.

  5. Small Vanity With No Storage

A wider vanity with drawers, or a double vanity, gives two people room in the morning.

From Tear-Out to First Shower

How a Bathroom Remodel Goes From Start to Finish

Four steps, with the waterproofing checked before any tile covers it.

  1. Bathroom Visit and Measurements

We look at the room, check for soft spots and leaks, and hear what you want.

  2. Tile and Fixture Choices

You choose tile, vanity, and fixtures. We write up the work and the price.

  3. Tear-Out and Waterproofing

Old tile and tub come out. Plumbing is updated and shower walls are waterproofed before tile.

  4. Tile, Glass, and Final Bathroom Check

Tile, vanity, and glass go in. We test every fixture and walk the room with you.

Bathrooms and Louisiana Weather

Why Bathroom Remodeling Takes Extra Care in South Louisiana

Damp air and two kinds of foundations change how a bathroom should be built here.

Waterproofing Behind Shower Tile

Grout isn't waterproof. We seal the shower walls and pan before a single tile goes up.

Bathroom Fans That Vent Outside

A fan that dumps steam into the attic feeds mold. Ours duct through the roof or wall.

Shower Drains in Slab Homes

Turning a tub into a shower often means moving the drain, which means cutting the slab.

Step-Free Showers for Aging in Place

A curbless entry, grab bar blocking, and a bench make the shower safer for older family members.

Raised Homes and Bathroom Floors

In pier-and-beam houses we check the joists under the tub before setting heavy tile or stone.

Water Damage Left From Old Leaks

We look for rotted studs and wet insulation once the walls are open, and replace what's bad.

"I used Precise Design Construction for my investment property. This was only the second property that I have purchased and rehabbed. The first time my experience was not good, but that was due to my contractor. This time around, I used Precise Design Construction, and they were with me step by step in this process. The best part was their communication, professionalism and of quality of work. I highly recommend them and will be using them with my next purchase again."

Bathroom Questions

Bathroom Remodeling FAQs

How long does a tub-to-shower conversion take?

A straight swap in the same footprint usually takes a couple of weeks, counting time for the waterproofing and tile to cure. Custom glass is measured after the tile is finished, so the door may go in a little later. You can use the shower with a curtain until then.

What do you do if there is water damage behind my shower tile?

We find it during tear-out, show you, and price the repair in writing before going on. That usually means new studs or subfloor, treating any mold, and drying the wall out. Covering it up is never an option — new tile over wet framing fails fast in this climate.

Can you build a shower with no step for a wheelchair or walker?

Yes. We build step-free showers with a sloped floor, a wide opening, and solid blocking in the walls for grab bars. In a slab home the floor is cut down to set the slope. In a raised home we frame it from below. A bench and handheld sprayer help too.

Will taking out my only bathtub hurt my home's resale value?

It can if it's the only tub in the house, since families with small children look for one. If you have a second bathroom with a tub, converting the primary bath to a large shower is rarely a problem. We'll talk through how long you plan to stay.

What kind of tile works best in a humid Louisiana bathroom?

Porcelain is the safest pick. It soaks up almost no water, resists stains, and comes in styles that look like marble or wood. Real marble is beautiful but needs sealing and shows water spots. For shower floors, smaller tile with more grout lines gives better grip.
